Buying stuff for class- tax deduction

| I am a room parent in 2 classrooms and the out of pocket expenses have really added up. Can I claim these as a deduction? Of course I will ask a professional, but can't do that until tomorrow. What say DCUM? |

| I've spent about $100 on supplies for events and classroom supplies. We aren't talking about cookies, but materials for crafting, etc. |

| If the PTA is a non-profit, you can donate the $$ to them for the purpose of buying those materials, then take it as a charitable donation. |
