Recommendations for simple on-line will preparation?

Anonymous
I need to prepare a will for my mother. She has very limited assets (a few thousand dollars), doesn't own a house, and has few items of personal property that are valuable. Given her limited resources, I don't want to spend any money having a lawyer prepare a will. Nor will the disposition of these items be very complicated. Mostly I am concerned about having an official document naming the executor (presumably me) so that it will be as simple as possible for the executor to handle the logistics -- funeral, closing bank accounts, etc. I know there are several websites that allow you to pay a small amount and input your criteria and wishes to have a will prepared. Does anyone have any recommendations for a particular site? Thanks!

We used LegalZoom for our VERY BASIC wills- it is not hte cheapest option but I liked that it had someone real review it before it was sent to us and the ease of use. Luckily we haven't had to use our wills so I can't attest to how thorough but we felt it was complete and thorough. Good luck

Legalzoom? Another option you might want to consider is Willmaker Plus 2009; I think it's from either Quicken or Nolo.

Forgot to mention that Willmaker Plus is not online but a software program.

I recommend that you get an attorney to do it. There is special language that you need to use that a lay person filling the blanks will not be aware of.

I'd second willmaker.
