2 questions - what is the safest slow cooker and what is best jarred sauce?

Anonymous
What is the best slow cooker that does not contain lead or non-stick coating on the ceramic insert and it's made in Europe or North America?

Also, what is the best jarred tomato sauce that I can buy at Mom's Organic Market or Whole Foods or even Shoppers Food warehouse? I want to use it on spaghetti?

Don't know about slow cookers. Best jarred sauce is Rao's.

Well, your absolute safest option would be a slow cooker bag that doesn't use electricity at all, and use your own pot inside it:

http://www.amazon.com/Wonderbag-Portable-Cooker-Recipe-Cookbook/dp/B00ESI97YU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396615989&sr=8-1&keywords=slow+cooker+bag

As a plus, for every Wonderbag purchased in the US, one is donated to a family in need in Africa.

They are made in South Africa though, not Europe or NA

Sorry, not sure about the sauce

Safest both in what you are looking for and no power left on while you are out of the house. You just heat up your slow cooker recipe in the pot, start it simmering/low boil, take it off the heat, put the pot in the thermal pack, seal it and come back when recipe says your meal is done. It's great, easy, and works better vs crockpot. Also perfect rice every time.

Best jarred sauce is Rao's (watch for it to go on sale at Whole Food's). The house brand at Whole Foods is also good.

Re: Rao's -- You don't need to go to Whole Foods for it. Giant carries it (and HT too, i think). I believe it's 7.99 at Giant.

After reading the thread about the best jarred tomato sauce, we tried Raos and Victorias. Raos is good but we liked Victorias over it.

We liked victorias too. seems to go on sale more.

Victorias stains clothing. We have so many kid clothing ruined because of this sauce. Much prefer Rao.

My favorite jarred sauces are Millie's and ragu. I don't like chunks of stuff in my sauce.

Classico. Contains either 0 sugar or less than other brands, I forget.

Rao's is good, but expensive. The Giant brand (Simply Enjoy) marinara is actually very good and is about half the price of Rao's.

To clarify: do you recommend using the Rao's in the crock pot?
