3 days of positive OPKs...no temp rise yet...should we still be DTD?

Anonymous
Hi all - I would love your input! I have gotten 3 days in a row of positive OPKs. But I don't see a temp shift yet. We DTD yesterday, the day before, and two days before that. My poor DH is tired tonight and I don't want to make him feel like a sperm bank...but I also would love to DTD again if I have not yet O'ed! Any ideas on when O occurs in relation to positive OPKs, and in relation to the temp shift? The 3 days of positive OPKs has really thrown me off - this happened last month, too.

You can't have 3 days in a row of positive OPKs. The LH surge happens within a few hours, not days. A positive means the line is at its darkest.

It's not like a pregnancy test where any hint of a line means you are ovulating. It is normal that you will get a line as it approaches ovulation. Then when you hit the darkest, that means that ovulation is coming within the next 24 hours.

You should use the OPKs as one of several data points. Track your temps so you get an idea of where you ovulate in your cycle. You can also check your cervical mucous. It should feel like egg-white the day before ovulation.

If you haven't had your temp rise yet, you haven't O'ed. So I would keep having sex every other day at the least.

Were the lines you saw on the test all equally dark? It's the darkest line that should be your true positive.

I think you should be fine taking the night off since you had sex last night. I would still try to then have sex tmr night

OP here. Thanks for the advice. Is that true for all OPKs? I use Wondfo. The instructions say that a "positive" is when the test line is equal to, or darker than, the control line. I would definitely say the test line was equal to on my "first positive day", then darker on the "second positive day," and darkest today on my "third positive day." I just thought because it technically was equal to or darker than, that they were all positives. I wish the instructions were a little more clear on that! That means that I should probably try to DTD today since it was darkest of all.

Is it possible that I would get an even darker test line tomorrow, so 4 days in a row of this progression??

Out of curiosity, I use the clear blue smiley face ones, which remove all confusion. Why do folks use wundfo which seem more confusing? Are they more cost effective ?

Sounds like today is the day. You should ovulate tomorrow and see your temp go up on Sunday morning.

That PP who said it's not possible to have this is wrong. I routinely get 2 days of positives. Normally O happens within 48 hours of your first positive. What IS possible is that you might have some hormonal imbalance causing longer surges with or without ovulation. Keep tracking temps and pay attention to your CM.
