Crib for shorter mom?

Anonymous
Anyone have any recommendations for a crib for a shorter mom (5'3, longish legs but a short torso)? Not a huge fan of the dropsides I have seen (they seem generally less sturdy), but a lot of the convertible/static side cribs seem huge. In particular, does anyone have any thoughts on the Peyton LS convertible or the Land of Nod Straight Up Crib -- 2 cribs that are supposedly good for shorter people?

I am 5' tall and purchased a convertible crib -- Munire Bristol from Great Beginnings.
Most crib stores have the mattresses set at the tallest height and then most have at least 3 settings for the mattresses.
Great Beginnings showed me all 2 heights for my crib. I can reach to lay the baby down at the highest height.
When we move the mattress to the middle height, I may need a step stool to put the baby down if she is completely asleep.
Good luck

Try Ikea.

I am 5'2 and have an Ikea crib, used it for 3 kids. It's great.

I also agree with the IKEA suggestion. We have the gulliver crib and it is much shorter than most standard cribs you will find.

We have the Land of Nod Straight Up crib, which we love, but I'm not sure it would be great for a shorter mom. I'm 5'6" and am wondering how it will be when we have the mattress on the lowest level (currently have it at the highest setting for our newborn). My mom (5'2") has some trouble reaching over the railing with the baby.

I am 5'2" and have the Mother Hubbard's Cupboards Once Upon a Time no dropside crib. It is very sturdy and I have not had issues with being able to put baby in on lowest setting or changing the sheets. I thought the dropsides just seemed too dangerous and some of them were no easier heightwise from what we got.

I'm 5'1 and have had no issues with regular, stationary cribs. We've had 2 different ones since my 1st one was recalled. I thought it would be difficult, but now that the crib is at the lowest setting, it's still fine.

I am under 5 feet and I needed a step stool after the baby was past the highest crib height. I preferred a pack n play with a bassinet for the first few months.

I have to put in a plug for a drop side. I'm 5'4", and the ability to put down my son (from birth to now almost 2) when he's asleep without waking him was PRICELESS. I would have had a definite gap of about 5 or 6 inches from my hands to the lowest setting on a mattress, definitely waking him up. Our crib was inexpensive, but has held up really well.

I'm a shorter expecting mom researching this as well. I think I remember from past threads that while a standard, non-drop side crib seems counterintuitive for shorter moms, in reality many non-drop side cribs are lower to the ground to begin with. Maybe drop-side cribs are higher up b/c the side needs clearance to be lowered?
