We heard stuff like this and saw it first hand. We left for a higher degree of professionalism and a less obsessed set of helicopter parents.

Daughter couldn’t be happier and the soccer is still very high quality, but more importantly is fun. To each his or her own as I do not begrudge FCV. But it wasn’t for us.

I can understand a coach saying "this is embarrassing" if the team is not playing well. I DO NOT believe a coach called out a single player and told them there were an embarrassment to an entire league.

Why dont you believe it? Is there a reason you couldn't believe it happening?

Sounds too much like Gossip. Too many people talking about 'both benches'. Cmon. Nobody went and asked the other bench if they heard a coach say those things and nobody from the other bench came over and confronted coaches or players.

It would NOT shock me to hear a coach say 'he/she' was embarrassed by the play as mentioned above.

I would shock me to hear a coach call a kid an embarrassment.

People saying they heard it from the sideline, benches...just foolishness. No way, just no way.

How often do you hear your kids coach from 50+ yards away?

I was there, I heard it.
“You’re an embarrassment to the DA” said directly to a U13 player.
These coaches are trash, the way they treat the KIDS is outrageous. Parents allow it.

Unfortunately this is a bit of how the club culture is. I have heard BP talk like this. Many of the FCV families are not fans of his but are willing to deal with it. He does benefit the club with his strong connections - so pros / cons.

Speed of the leader is the speed of the pack. This behavior by coaches is common across the club in all levels, not just the DA. At least the DA players benefit from BP's connections. No idea why anyone else puts up with this.

Dropping the ball on the St James purchase right after deposits were made is definitely a short term move and rubbed many the wrong way. It locks the current families in for one year to help the purchase. Great. In the long run, it slowly undermines the trust that a club should have with the families. All in all, it makes it more likely that the club moves to Springfield next year for new blood and a fresh start with new families.

I don't know why anyone would feel trapped. Any player/family could leave and join another club. There are SO many in the area. If the player is worth a salt, an ECNL club would pick them up.

Timing was suspicious and I think there is more to it. I don't know what yet though.

I also don't think they'll pick up and move. STJ wouldn't want that. They DO NOT want to break up the current teams as it would tarnish their brand if FCV performed like the other local clubs.
