Lol. DC - where hall monitors go when they grow up.

So, if it's posted as unlawful, then why were you drinking your coffee on the Metro? What's your excuse?

Because I wanted to? I also smoke weed - federally illegal. I’m sure you’re not surprised.

Look, I wouldn’t spray a bottle of champagne and arrrange a three course meal for myself on Metro, but I used to have a very long, very early commute - yes, I drank coffee. Was never disciplined, never created problems for those around me. NBD!

Using social media as a complaint box is trashy too. WMATA has clear instructions about how to make a complaint and they don't involve Twitter.

Customer Complaint Process
Customers have several options by which to submit complaints to Metro:
Submit a Customer Contact Form.
Call Customer Relations at 202-637-1328.
Submit a paper comment form, which are available inside all Metrorail stations.

How old are you?

Old enough to know when to mind my own business about some petty nonsense like (GASP!!) a lady eating on the train.
Old enough to know better than to put folks on blast on social media and not expect to get some clap-back.
How old are you? Young dumb and impulsive like that lady who lost her book deal I assume.

Old enough to ignore the DC fat rats nibbling on your grandchild’s toes?

Even rats are smart enough to mind their business unlike that lady who lost her book deal.

You obviously don’t live in middle class DC where the cat rats are rampant.

Welcome to Dysfunctional City (DC) where the lawbreakers expect to run the show.

Like a pervasively corrupt Third World city where respect for law and civil rules has broken down.

Yes both DC and Baltimore are this way. I've lived here for ten years and I still find it mind blowing. The mob mentality here is insane.

Let's not haggle over presumptions. What's important is that I obviously know that running my yap on an anonymous forum is far more prudent than using a social media app with my name attached to it to air my grievances.

She clearly had no idea how truly awful people are. Lesson learned.

She is truly awful so she should have. Hopefully she will be better but doubt it.

She knew exactly how awful people are. Unsuckdcmetro regularly posts photos of metro employees asleep and in embarrassing positions (I agree they're not doing their jobs) but its done to humiliate and debase the pictured individuals.

Instead of humiliating that woman though she just did it to herself.

My comment isn’t about whether or not the employee should’ve been reported, the social media posting or race issues.

Growing up here in DC I’ve always known that nobody was ever allowed to eat on metro. I’ve never heard of an exception for metro employees ( although I do think there should be one because it is their place of work and don’t most of us eat or snack at work?) At one point through the years there was even a media campaign against eating and drinking on metro.

I think either metro should allow eating and drinking or they need to have a much better enforcement so not just some people people feel like they can get away with it. Personally, I think they need to put their efforts in the more important issues like crime such as assaults. I was assaulted on the metro and the metro managers never took me seriously and it took for a while for a police to arrive. They never caught the guys who did it. So I guess I don’t care if you’re eating or drinking on the metro as long as I am safe from another assault.

This is why there’s a disgusting rat problem in DC - filthy public eating.

This. Remove the rule on eating/drinking if they're not going to enforce it. But metro employees shouldn't be the ones flouting the rule.

I can’t wait to see what the Metro looks like after it becomes common knowledge that you can jump the turnstile, eat your lunch, drop your wrappers, spit, and play loud music. It’s going to look like NYC in the 1980s. I still remember being a kid from NYC riding the DC Metro for the first time with my dad. We were agape at the cleanliness, calm, and civility of the entire process. Another passenger laughed at us and said, “let me guess - you’re from NYC?”

You’re just pissed that someone called you out for doing something wrong. So now you try to belittle them as a “hall monitor”. You’re like the asshole that totally cut me off in traffic the other day, almost causing and accident, then gave me the finger when I honked at him. I didn’t do anything wrong, jackass, YOU did.

Typical entitled behavior.

Book deal lady seems like a first class beeyatch but I see nothing wrong with this - a uniformed metro employee breaking the law (or what we all thought the law was until yesterday.) This deserves to get called out and I do t see why race matters to anyone except the wapo reporter and all the faux woke people here.

This isn't the metro worker being rude (if that were a crime ain't enough jails in the world). This was small but criminal behavior by someone who KNOWS better.
