Leaving SSMA was the best decision that we could have possibly made for our children once they left the primary classes. Though we miss the SSMA community we are thankful everyday that our sons are receiving an actual education with teachers who are able to intervene where needed.
When looking at re-enrollment are they counting the families who initially re-enrolled and then left? As far as test scores, there are only about 25 kids taking the test out of 200 (only 3rd- 5th graders) so that doesn't tell you a whole lot. There was a very bright group of 3rd graders last year, who should be thanked for those higher scores. |
Re-enrollment counts those students who were part of the enrollment count the previous year and are part of the enrollment count the current year. Basically, student where there on the October count day last year and are here on count day this year would count for re-enrollment. Students who move out of the city are deducted from the count. |

The test scores are a result of the Wednesday sessions that one of the teachers presides over. The sessions started like the first month of school. It's not something the school has instituted. Preparation makes all the difference in the world. |

Any recent updates from SSMA parents on the state of things in December? Still a disorganized mess? Are classrooms staffed? How are the new guides? |
Not an SSMA parent, but if the number of typos in their handout from Edfest is indicative of the state of the school, I'd say things are not going well. |
I heard the facility issues were still there (flooding basement floor, air quality issues, etc). Dr R is still present and Aliya is gone, so I'm sure it's a mess. |
I’d say it’s as bad if not worse than last year. The Obama room is still unusable, staff is unresponsive, the basement classes keep getting flooded out, and the school is raging war on the community assocation. We will be quite glad to be out of there. (We’re moving in the spring to get out of SSMA.) |
ANOTHER Shake Up at SSMA. New principal out! |
What?!? She was the best thing this year! |
Out mid-year? Really? |
Whaa? Why? Hot Mess Montessori. |
Dr. R emailed staff that she resigned for “health and family reasons”. She had already told the academic team beforehand. |
The new principal told staff “after much reflection over the break I have decided to resign for family and health reasons.”
That’s her official reason for resigning. But, we all know what SSMA is like. I doubt that was the kreal’ reason. |
