Swami thinks you will call SSMA many times to ask why they are only offering PK3 slots.

TBH I don't even know we'd take it. I would have never thought we'd stay this long at our IB, but the lottery has not been good to us, and our IB has.

Langley, #21 for PK3? Words cannot describe how bad our lottery number was.

Swami says keep showing up for Langley playdates, you'll end up a Tiger. This year.

Be negative if you must, but we applied because a friend's child is currently attending K and they like it. We didn't initially list it because I figured we could get in post-lottery so I wanted to use our 12th spot for something else.

Swami isn't negative, but also realistic that many parents in Wards 1, 4, 5, 7, 8 play the lottery every single year to try to "trade up". The grass isn't always greener.

Swami says you'll get into French but stick with Langley for the commute.

Sela says you should be in Sela already... they just have to sort out the paperwork.

I see that DCI offered no seats for 8th grade but we are under #10 for both French and Chinese. Any chance?

1 DC Bilingual PC - #3
2 Shepherd Elementary School - #14
3 E.L. Haynes PCS - #14
4 Creative Minds International PCS - #1
5 Capital City PCS - Lower (match)

*We have a twin with much lower numbers so for DCB would actually need to be #3 and 4 (and we know we might get knocked down as the wait list shuffles)

But we are really stunned. The twin with good numbers was the laggard last year and it was his sister that pulled him into a charter we like but that isn't nearly as well performing as these here.

Swami assumes you've already enrolled at CMI and are sweating the threads on here.

No. They wouldn't let us visit which told me all we needed to know. (And you already did your thing a couple months ago on my list but were more accurate back then!)

Hi Swami,

Welcome back. I’ll throw my hat in the ring. PK 4 Hyde Addison #17, Yu Yin #19. Any chance. Our #s for PK 3 were so bad . We were next to last on every waitlist. We did better and matched but definitely did not “win.” We really need a school that can take us beyond PK or its time to move and I fear next year we will get a bad draw.
