Anonymous wrote:Israel is a pluralistic society, a democracy, and has a successful, growing economy with notably vibrant tech and defense sectors, despite decades of fending off terror from Palestinians. I suppose it's envy which motivates criticism of their success and consequential regional domination? After 80 years of persistent Palestinian political, economic, and social failures, all while keeping their hands out for more welfare which can be converted to support the construction of ultimately useless terror infrastructure, it's perhaps understandable.

Vituperation notwithstanding, Israel keeps prospering, which is apparently torturing you terribly. Maybe if you posted about the manifest behavioral, religious, educational, social, political, and economic changes the Palestinians could unilaterally take to improve their situation, you'd be getting somewhere. Otherwise, it's your same old tired, vacuous "I hate Israel!" message, over and over and over and over. As if anyone cares.

Israel’s economy, democracy, and society is not successful or growing. Netanyahu is slowly making it obvious he’s an autocrat and he’s slowly undermining democratic institutions in Israel. Young people are fleeing in droves. Their economy shrunk 3% since the Iran conflict in June. Tourism was down this summer. There is no cohesion or agreement among the government and military and intelligence leaders. Many dislike and abhor Netanyahu and think he’s destroying Israel.

I don't know. From an Israeli perspective, Netanyahu is probably one of the greatest and most successful politicians of the modern era. He essentially controlled American foreign policy for the past 30 years getting the US to fight a multitude of trillion dollar wars on Israel's behalf all while executing a plan to genocide Palestinians and expands the nation's borders.

The average Israeli loves Israel not Bibi. They do have any interest in fighting Iran, do not care about the Levant and making a Greater Israel state including Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. The average Israeli does not want to move as settlers to Gaza or the West Bank or even golan heights. They are happy with Israel as it is. It is a beautiful place. The problem is the far right thinks what they have is not enough and they’re willing to sacrifice everything (including the U.S.-Israel military relationship (Bibis words) to get it.

Are you sure about that? Polls last year have shown that the average Israeli supports genocide/ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

Exactly. These attempts to disentangle themselves from Bibi amount to nothing more than a weak distinction without a difference. It’s obviously not a deal breaker for the vast majority of Israelis.

And yes, it IS different than here in the U.S. where a deeply polarizing figure also leads this country. Leadership is established through an entirely different system here. The polls bear it out.

75% or more of the Israeli population is thrilled with the policies and actions of their government. A plurality think those policies and actions don’t go far enough. Try finding any poll in America that has more than 40% of the country even “kinda OK, I guess” with the policies and actions of the current administration.

It's even worse than that. A huge chunk of the Israeli population believed that the government wasn't using enough force in Gaza - meaning they wanted Israel to be even MORE genocidal.

I agree, not enough force, as is evident through Hamas' continuing attacks and refusal to disarm. As long as they want to keep attacking, Gaza will keep getting crushed. It's a simple, binary calculus - terror = response. Stop the terror, the response ends. Your complaint is just that the response has not ended before the terror, which we all know will continue until every last terrorist has been eliminated. And so it goes.

Nobody trusts you. Give the “the lashings will end when morale improves” bit a rest.

Disgusting. They bomb and then desecrate the people that saved the jews and allowed them to colonize the Levant. But what else would you expect from war criminals?

CBC: IDF says it dug up Canadian soldiers' graves to destroy Gaza tunnel

The Israel Defence Forces have told CBC News that they dug 20 to 30 metres deep in a Gaza war cemetery where 22 Canadian soldiers are buried in order to destroy a Hamas tunnel.

An IDF officer who spoke to CBC News on background and who was involved in combat operations in the area said he was not able to give any assurance that Israeli forces had taken measures to preserve human remains.

Two cemeteries in Gaza hold the remains of Commonwealth soldiers who died over the decades in both world wars and subsequent peacekeeping missions. The main Gaza War Cemetery is in Tuffah district of Gaza City in the north of the Gaza Strip. A smaller cemetery is in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

One of the Canadians buried at the site was Johnny Fickling of Ontario. His sister, Grace Bolton, now 91, says her brother was laid off from a couple of civilian jobs and decided to join the army, serving in Alaska and in the Middle East, where he lost his life in October 1966. She has never been able to visit his gravesite and says she doesn't expect to ever see it now.

Priorities. The elimination of Hamas is a higher priority than anything else. War is neither neat nor without collateral damage. Start no wars, experience no consequences.

Crazy to think that even the pro-Israel BBC would publish this:

Israeli soldiers shot a Palestinian boy and stood around as he bled to death, video shows. 14-year-old Palestinian boy named Jad Jadallah was shot at close range by Israeli soldiers in a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

The IDF has said that Jad threw a rock and was a "terrorist" who "attempted to attack the force".

But footage emerged showing one of the soldiers entering the scene from out of shot, dropping a heavy object next to Jad, then taking a picture of the object next to him.

We can only hope and pray dearly that you get to enjoy an empty bargain like the one you describe above over and over again in your lifetime.

Not seen on this video, tens of thousands of other times Israeli soldiers have done this.

To you perhaps but not to Bibi. He thinks Hamas is an asset to his political success.

Not surprised. It’s just like when Native Americans were exposed to smallpox to kill them off. They want to take southern Lebanon for themselves and settle it. Never happy with what they have.

Never happy with what they have has to be the very definition of the Palestinians, given their endless efforts to annihilate Israel. Unsuccessfully, of course, but still.

How could they find success battling such a competent, skilled group?

Public sentiment towards Palestinians is above the Israelis.

Netenyahu will have done more to damage the reputation of Jews worldwide than anyone in a generation.

Good question, calling into doubt their sanity as well as their intelligence. Yet, they persist, and experience the same consequences over and over. Some form of collective generation-spanning obsessive-compulsive disorder, perhaps?

He thinks he’s above everyone and a good person. He’ll go to his grave being wrong about that.
