Remember....assaulting an ICE officer is illegal and considered a federal crime. Specifically, it's a federal felony to assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate, or interfere with a federal law enforcement officer, including ICE officers, while they are engaged in their official duties.

Again, peaceful protests (such as the the "no king" ones) are all well and good. But you truly cannot prevent an ICE raid without risking arrest for a federal crime. That's my point. Protests are all well and good, but I honestly do not see ICE raids slowing down or stopping.

Yes, it is. ICE deals specifically with immigration and immigrants. It is wholly illegal for ICE to detain American citizens. They can make mistakes so they would have to allow counsel so you can prove your citizenship. Hence the whole due process thing. But they are not police or other law enforcement officials that deal with regular legal enforcement.

No, it's not fair. But if an ICE agent (whether right or wrong) believes they have probable cause to detain someone (whether a US Citizen, Green Card Holder, or actual illegal immigrant)...the burden of proof falls to the detainee and the courts. In the case above, the courts ruled in favor of the US Citizen. However, I'm fairly certain that nothing happening to the ICE agent who conducted the original detention..aside from perhaps a slap on the wrist from his supervisor.

Everything you protested against will continue, unobstructed and entirely unaffected by these peotests. Getting people to show up and wave a sign around on a Saturday is very very different from actively resisting anything.
