LOL.
Clearly the No Kings protests struck a nerve. They sent a message and it appears it was received.
I get the purpose behind the protests...but honestly...aside from making you feel better, what did it really solve? Sure, it proved that you did what you have the right to do...protest. But the protests are over and tomorrow it's back to work. Back to school.
It proved there's a massive, organized resistance. Millions of people are willing to risk standing up to a wanna be dictator. What do you think should happen instead?
I just question whether it actually changes anything that's currently planned by this administration. Scenario....ICE raids continue. Sure, peacefully protest. But if a protestor actually obstructs an ICE raid officer...what then? I just don't think a protest is going to stop ICE raids from happening. National Guard/Military being brought in to support ICE officers. Remember....assaulting an ICE officer is illegal and considered a federal crime. Specifically, it's a federal felony to assault, resist, oppose, impede, intimidate, or interfere with a federal law enforcement officer, including ICE officers, while they are engaged in their official duties. Again, peaceful protests (such as the the "no king" ones) are all well and good. But you truly cannot prevent an ICE raid without risking arrest for a federal crime. That's my point. Protests are all well and good, but I honestly do not see ICE raids slowing down or stopping. But maybe I'll be proved wrong.
ICE detaining Americans is also illegal. If the president can flaunt laws, then we become lawless.
