Right, but the baseline was (and is still) so low, that a 100% increase in the risk of being victimized by crime doesn't actually move the needle all that much. I live in Northeast - probably not too far away from where PP walked around Union Station - and I completely agree that crime is trending in the wrong direction, but it's not productive to pretend that DC is a wasteland hellscape where everybody walking around eventually gets mugged on a regular basis like being called for jury duty.

I won't say that it's wild you don't know that though, since statistical illiteracy is rampant in our society.

Not leaving, crime happens everywhere, I am not sure why people on here claim they were safer a decade ago. Some of the data is skewed, I am quite sure every few years MPD plays with the crime numbers in order to increase their budget size and stoke fear into the populace.

Sure a few incidents have happened in Ward 3 but that is "normal" given that previously it was shielded from needy residents w/o homes. So in a way, Ward 3 residents created a fake utopian bubble that has long needed to burst.

Wait, so instead of seeing a problem with the uptick in crime, you’re actually looking at it as a success that the crime is now more “equitably spread.” If some neighborhoods aren’t safe, then no neighborhoods should be safe.

DC crime is up 27 percent year over year and Ward 3 crime is up 42 percent. Keep in mind it's been rising in the previous years as well.
