It actually is extraordinary. The young adult who is changing his name and gender identity was Elon's eldest son and looked exactly like Elon as a child. Basically, it's the son/now daughter disowning the father in a very public manner. Elon treated their mother horribly over the course of their marriage, so it's no surprise that they harbor feelings of ill will toward their father.

Elon really needs to get his life together. He seems intent on spreading his personal dysfunction to the wider American society.
