Jesus. What is wrong with you. The numbers are the numbers. There was not a single day between Monday, February 21 and Friday, February 25 that rail ridership was above 2021 levels. Weekday ridership that week ranged from 42% to 88% of the same week in 2021. That is not more. Year over year, ridership is also lower. The claim was that "2022 ridership is up significantly over 2021" which is just a lie. Then there has just been more lies on top of lies. I am not sure what is wrong with you, but it is seriously troubling.

On Monday, February 21, 2022, Metrorail ridership was 104,000. On Monday, February 22, 2021, Metrorail ridership was 73,000. That means more people are riding Metro in 2022 than in 2021. Feel free to cross-reference 2022 numbers: https://www.wmata.com/service/covid19/Covid-19-Public-Information.cfm with 2021 numbers: https://www.wmata.com/service/covid19/Ridership-Monitoring-Archive-2021.cfm Why do you bother lying about something that is so easily verified? Is this how you get your kicks? |
You are reading this wrong. When it says 42%, it means ridership increased 42%. See in places where ridership decreased, the number includes a minus sign, like “-12%.” |
Would you seriously suggest that for NYC? |

| DCs population has grown every single year, while car ownership levels have stayed the same or decresed. So folks are still moving here, especially young, educated professionals which is what every jurisdiction wants. |
Yes. And then most of those young and educated professionals ditch the District when it comes time for a family, more space, less crime, and better schools. |
You seem to have fallen asleep for a couple years and just woke up. |
Who cares? They still aren't using cares while they are here and are better served by resources devoted to transport and ped/ bike infrastructure rather than more space for cars. |
|
Just my anecdote but I'm seeing a lot more family biking with those big boxy things. Also, my kids bike around with me. Older kids bike around together in the neighborhood. |
Population decreased in 2020 too. |

Too many cars on Conn Ave driving too fast and our cowardly city leaders fighting every request to put bollards up along the curbs to protect non drivers. And of course, the MPD commander in charge shows up to reassure everyone that it was only an accident. Well that will make me feel much better that when my family is mowed down by drivers on Conn Ave while eating lunch on a bright sunny day that it will be just an accident and nothing will ever be done to prevent it again.
All you DC drivers who whine and cry about DC not being car friendly enough have blood on your hands. F you. *********** Two dead after driver crashes into Parthenon restaurant in D.C. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/03/11/chevy-chase-crash-parthenon/ Two women died and at least nine other people were injured when the driver of a small SUV crashed into patrons outside a restaurant along Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington at lunchtime Friday, according to D.C. police and fire officials. |
| Dude peeled out of the gas station and rammed across 6 lanes of traffic right into the outdoor seating across the street. |

Let’s see if I understand correctly. It’s Chevy Chase, DC, near MD border. An elderly white man. Not speeding. DC plates. Reportedly mistook the gas and the brake. This situation has zero resemblance to anything being discussed in this thread.
Sounds like an administrative failure. DC needs to get more vigilant about getting elderly drivers off the road. |
