You must make homemade applesauce. Usually I make it on the stove, but decided to let it cook in the slow cooker today. And it smells just delicious. I added 8 apples of different varieties and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Nothing else - no sugar, water, or anything. Makes the whole house smell good. Try it

| Last night I was craving something sweet. Sliced apples into a pan, added some butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Sauteed a few minutes and then topped with a handful of granola. Yum! |
| I will! Thanks, OP! |
This sounds great! I'm pregnant so of course I'd add a scoop of ice cream. |
| Op, how long do you cook them in the slow cooker? Do you keep it at low or high? Thanks, would love to try it but don't want to burn... |
| Cinnamon is very good for your health. |

OP here. I cooked them on high. Went to check on them after 2.5 hours and all I had to do was stir em and they were already done. So you could probably do low for twice as long. The applesauce came out really good, I think the cinnamon adds a lot and I used a mixed variety of apples.

| If I'm peeling apples for something I put the skins in a pot of water with a dash if cinnamon and a couple drops of vanilla. Let it simmer on the stove and your house smells wonderful |
OP again - I wanted to add that I peeled the apples and then used an apple corer/slicer to get them into wedges before cooking. In case anyone was thinking of using whole apples
|
I'm going to be making apple-matzoh pudding for Passover next weekend and will have a LOT of apple skins. So I'll definitely be doing this - thanks for the tip! |

Yum - apple matzah pudding! Would you be willing to share the recipe?
I wish there were an easy way to peel apples. |
I've developed an allergy to cinnamon. So sad! I love making irish oats with apples and cinnamon overnight in the slow cooker. Makes the whole house smell great when we wake up! i'll try the apple sauce. Thanks, OP. |
| OP, would that number of apples work in a 6 qt slow cooker, or would I need to add more? Thanks for sharing! |
I use one of those apple peelers/corers that spirals around the apple. It works well about 80% of the time. Doesn't work well on soft apples or misshapen apples. I think I got it at LL Bean or someplace like that. |
This is the one. http://www.webstaurantstore.com/apple-peeler/407073075.html?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping&gclid=CNeNlJuixb0CFeMSOgod6EoAdg |
