Please help me find a summer swim or diving team that does
NOT have morning meets or morning practices on (gasp) weekdays!!! N Arlington, McLean, NW DC might work. |
| Join a country club. Meets are in the evenings during the week. Practices are both morning and evening. |
| same problem here so we skip. several families with working moms hire college nannies for the summer and they take them to the pool. |
seriously? you do know they do that so the membership cna use the pool during the normal hours that the pool is open. |
|
OP to 14:14 (or anyone else who can help out): name a country club.
All I have found are pools that have evening practice until school lets out...then mornings only. Oh, and Monday morning, not evening, meets. |
|
They do that coz it's their secret club.
Just the same way as how the working people don't hire SAHMs who want to re-enter the workforce. |

Washington Golf and CC has a very good swim team.

| The WGCC schedule is the same as the others: morning practices after school lets out for summer. |
| Some of the Alexandria pools have swim team practices in the evenings as well as mornings. The City of Alexandria has a swim team that has practices in the morning and afternoons. |
Washington Golf will set you back about 100K- kind of a lot for a swim team
|
| All swim teams are for families with SAHMs. The only years that my child has been able to participate in swim were when we hired a nanny for the summer. |
|
| In theory you could find a swim team Mom and pay her to take your kid to and from the pool |

Not just in N. Arlington, but I have found the same problem all over Northern VA. I grew up going to Tuckahoe and wanted the same experience for my DD. When I looked up the NVSL website, I found a pool near us and joined it. Ran right into the problem OP is describing.
We did more research and joined a local indoor swimteam that has practices on weekday afternoons and on the weekends. I am majorly bummed, however, that the NVSL clubs won't get on the stick and do the same type of scheduling. Hello, today, MANY families are two-working-parent families so their type of scheduling (practices weekday mornings from 8-9:30/9:30-10:30. . .B Team meets on Monday afternoons at like 4:00) really is not that doable. |
| Unfortunately, every swim team schedules I have seen have morning practices meets during the day. My pool has an early morning (7AM) mak- up practice that we use because our kids are in camps during the day. |
