Can someone tell me what's going on with construction for Rock Creek Forest Elem?

Are they at their temporary location? When is the new building supposed to be finished and does it look likely that it'll be on time? Lastly, how has it affected the bus? We're debating on RCF for immersion and are concerned the temp location is just too far.

RCF parent here. The school is at a temporary location at Radnor Center in Bethesda. It is pretty far so most students now take the bus. Because of the distance the school day now starts at 9:30 instead of it's usual 9:15. The after care program (Kids Adventures) also offers shuttles from a location closer to the original school on Grubb Rd., which has been very helpful for us. This would only be an option if your child attends the after care program though. The school construction appears to be on track and is due to reopen in January 2015. From what I understand, most, if not all, school construction projects in the county have been completed by the set deadline (each takes a year and a half to complete). So if your child were to start in the Fall they would only have to be at the holding school for a few months and would be at a brand new school by January.

Just FYI, the immersion deadline is in 2 days. You could always apply (assuming you're able to get your paperwork in on time) and see if you even get in; remember that it's a lottery, with many more people applying than actually getting accepted.
