Our neighbors' house has been empty for a while - the previous occupants moved out and the family hasn't yet decided to sell. But at some point they will, I guess. The house is in a shape that could tempt an investor to break it down and build something new from scratch.
Is there anything we can do to prevent that they would build a McMansion next door? We're not in a historic disrict, although there are pretty much onjly colonials in our street. |
| Yes, what you do is purchase that property yourself. Problem solved. |
| Not unless you buy it yourself. |
| Agree with pps. If the new owners staying within residential zoning rules for your neighborhood then there is nothing you can do. |
|
Edcate yourself on the zoning rules.
Attend any ANC meetings where the property is discussed |
| Try not to be a jerk and respect peoples right to house their family how they see fit. |
| Most mcmansions are colonials. Congratulations your neighborhood is a good one if people are building new. It's a time to celebrate. |
Aren't most of those infill McMansions built by companies to sell? So although people buy them, it's not like they have any input. OP, if you have the money, I'd offer to buy the place. |
| Better a McMansion than a rundown weed growing shit shack. Sounds like the house isnt being kept up and that would be a worse problem for you. |
| yes, you can move and perhaps you should, your other neighbors will be grateful. |
| Just buy the house yourself. If you cannot your dick does not swing big, and you just have to shut up and take it. |
| OP, take a couple of day to mourn the loss of sunlight. Then get over it. |
| Not everyone appreciates a weedy rat filled shit shack. Go slob the knob of your local historic preservationists and rent a room in their basement. |
It's not good for you to be off your pills. |
Well thank you for THAT visual
and by the way, I agree 100% |
