Notification of waitlist status

I wrote to the principal of one of the schools I'm waitlisted for inquiring about the possibility of getting into the school based on my waitlist number. She was very helpful, but one thing I wanted to pass along was that she mentioned the schools will no longer be calling parents on the waitlist and that notification will come directly from Central Office. Has anyone else heard this? This is the first time I'm hearing this.

HOWEVER, of course, the details on waitlist length, siblings, in-boundary, etc., will all remain with individual schools, right?

More evidence that DME DCPS want to level the playing field and turn all of us into low information parents.

I have no idea. I was specifically asking about notification because I won't be in town when the calls come in, and I heard in the past that the individual schools made those calls. According to this principal, that will no longer be the case.

I heard the exact opposite from a principal with whom I spoke today--she said that central office has handed off the waitlists to them and that the principal are now in charge.

I called DCPS today and I was told that the schools are contacting parents. This process is a little confusing to me.

OP here. Well this is annoying. I guess the principal I spoke to was misinformed. Why don't they post this type of information on My Schools or somewhere so we all get the same info.

I called our school yesterday and they said they will be calling the parents.
