Cheap freeze-dried fruit? (Apples)

Where can I find a good deal on freeze-dried fruit? My kids love the Brothers ones in the disney bags, specifically the apples. But at a dollar or more a bag for barely any inside they're pretty expensive. We travel often and freeze dried fruit is such a food plane/car snack!
I see giant tubs at costco for $100 but can anyone speak to the quality of taste? |

| Trader Joes has lots of dried fruits. Not sure if they have apple but worth checking out. |

I'm also following this thread. The boxes with the individual servings of freeze dried apple and banana/strawberry at Costco were recalled.
Any other ideas for affordable freeze dried apple? It really is a great car snack! |

| Get a dehydrator and make it. The store bought stuff has added sugars d flavoring. You cut it and throw it in overnight or in the morning and it's ready rhat night or when you wake up. Stores for months! |

| Our oven has a dehydrator mode. You might want to see if yours does, too. |

Yeah, we got the call about that AFTER we'd already eaten them all. We were fine (and the youngest muncher was a small 7-year-old), thank goodness. And that was by far the best price (anything under a dollar per bag is good, and the Costco bags were actually bigger/contained more fruit than the ones I find elsewhere like Giant). |

| A second recommendation for trader joe's. I love their dried granny smith apples. We also make our own but they're not the same. |

| Op wants the crunchy freeze dried fruits, not the chewy regular dried ones. Trader Joes has freeze dried mangos but not particularly cheap. I've never found it cheap. |
