Facial hair has GOT to go :(

Lady here. I've had a bit of hair on my upper lip since forever, and have always bleached it. In fact the one time I went to a salon for a wax, the woman asked if I'd done it before, and when I said no she said she really recommends just bleaching with the Sally Beauty stuff (which I what I already do).

Bleaching is not doing it for me. As I get into my 30's it's getting more noticeable and I HATE it. I want it removed and do not have funds for permanent removal at this point (which I read is hit and miss anyway). I would just do home waxing, but I've read that years of doing that will cause wrinkles and messed up skin. I've never tried the Nair stuff, but I can't imagine that it's a great long term solution either. I've heard threading is great, and wonder if it has the same long term impact on the skin as waxing?

Basically, too many words to ask - what is the best long term way to remove upper lip hair, as between waxing / nair-type stuff / threading? Or are there other better options?

Just use Nair. It isn't permanent but is cheap & easy.

Fair skinned blonde here. I have fine, light hairs that grow on the sides of my upper lip and in the center of my lower lip. I shave it with a razor. Not a big deal at all.

Every so often, maybe every three months, I'll wax with a Sally Hansen drugstore wax strip kit. takes all of 30 seconds.

I like the sally hanson wax kits. The kind you pull off yourself without strips. It's pretty painful though!! My hairs aren't bad enough for laser hair removal, but they drive me insane! I pluck occasionally too and it seems like they grow back faster than ever.

Threading works. I go to an Indian place to get it done, along with my eyebrows. It hurts a lot though. If you have fair, delicate skin it may also cause irritation.

I thread the upper lip. It is cheap and effective but PAINFUL. And I normally have a high pain threshold.

I wax and no wrinkles here, but I have good skin and won't wrinkle for a long time anyway. I don't like the idea of putting chemical creams on my skin. Waxing the eyebrows and lip, just makes everything look so clean and crisp.

I did laser, but over time have some grays and fuzzies that laser won't fix. Also, I use retin-a so can't wax. I SHAVE and have noticed that it also acts like a facial. My skin is very smooth.

Veet or Nads wax strips. $5 on amazon. I've been waxing my upper lip for 20+ years and the skin is just fine--it's not like you do it every day. The only place I've ever heard that waxing leads to wrinkles is DCUM.

Be careful with Nair--it can cause chemical burns. I'd leave it on under the minimum recommended time the first time you use it.

I like threading because the thread doesn't really "touch" the skin, only pulls out the hair.

Just try the Sally Hansen/Nair removal kits. Put it on your face before you get into the shower and keep your face out of the spray. After you wash your hair, take it off in the shower. Set a timer on the sink so you don't keep it on too long. This adds maybe an extra minute to your routine every few weeks. Like PP said, do some tests on very small areas first, though. The best option is the one that works best with your schedule, your funds, and how sensitive your skin is.

I pluck. My skin is super sensitive. After getting burned by chemicals and wax, I opted to deal with it myself.
