Where to do the first trimester screening? Foxhal OB/GYN?

Anonymous
Hi,

I am currently receiving my care at Foxhall OB/GYN and they had me scheduled my first trimester screening with them. However, I don't know if I should do it with them, I don't know that I trust them enough. Also, I wanted to do it at 11 weeks and they forced me to make an appt at 12 weeks telling me that 11 weeks was too soon. Should I do it elsewhere? maybe in a specialized facility? or is Foxhall fine? What do you think?

TIA

I was a patient at foxhall until recently and only switched because my insurance changed and they didn't take my new plan. I really liked and trusted them. Is there any reason you don't trust them? I think 12 weeks is standard for the screening.

OP here- The reason I don't trust them is that I did a blood pregnancy test along with other blood work with them and when they called me to give me my results, it turned out that the pregnancy test had not been done. Somehow, either the nurse or the lab forgot to do it. My Dr. called the lab to have them do it but the lab said they had already discarded my blood so I had to do it again! I just don't want them to forget sending part of my blood work for the first trimester screening!

I've been going to FoxHall for over 10 years and I completely trust them. I'm sure that was very frustrating and I know that accidents happen from time to time but when push comes to shove, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I had an abnormal pap a few years ago and they got me through it. Now I'm 11 weeks PG and so happy to be with them.

OP here- my question isn't really if Foxhall overall is a good practice or not, but whether they are the right place to do the first trimester screening, which is a genetic test, which might be better done by a facility that specializes in genetic counseling.
