Wood Acres Cafeteria Closed by Health Dept

Anonymous
Anyone freaked out by Wood Acres being closed by health department for rodent infestation? Anyone ever see anything?

As a parent of kids at Wood Acres ES, I was pretty horrified at the fact that the health dept found evidence of rodents in the cooking area, but as importantly I was really disappointed by the reaction of the school administration. We received an email same day alerting us to the basic facts of what happened, and an email the next day saying the cafeteria had been reopened, but no apology, no assurance this will never happen again, no accountability/responsibility by the administration. Par for the course there, though - and the parent body is like a bunch of stepfords that accept everything that goes on at the school without complaint, and just keep repeating how "wonderful" the school is, without ever caring to peel back the curtain.

By the look of the food, I think they use rodents for flavor, no?

Seriously, why are you all upset? I bet it was just Remy looking to help out the lunch ladies.

That is DISGUSTING. I'm more concerned about the fact that rodents can carry and transmit disease than I am about rodents scurrying about in the kitchen area.

Isn't every child going to being their own lunch from now on?

no, PP - incorrect

Apparently, the Wood Acres Wildcat hasn't been doing his job and will soon be replaced. A community meeting will be held to determine which mascot can best represent Wood Acres' image. Details TBA at a later date

Agree that the administration's handling of the situation was poor. My DS wanted to buy lunch the next day. Ah. . . NO. Either the rodents were not really gone, or they used so many strong chemicals to get rid of them in less than 24 hours, that the cafeteria is going to be declared a Superfund site.

Keep thinking that this is the only school with this problem.
