How long to get back results for first tri screening?

My first trimester screening is on Thursday the 15th. Any chance that I'll have the results before the long, long weekend? We're waiting to tell pretty much everyone until we get them and I must say, it's getting harder & harder to keep things a secret.

If you want "formal" results, then in my (limited) experience you won't have them by the weekend. They'll do the ultrasound and measure the nuchal fold, but they also have to do the bloodwork and at least in my case it took a little while - longer than a week (they had to send it to some special lab). However, you will get the ultrasound and if your technician is nice, s/he can tell you what the measurement is and whether it falls in the good range. We also waited until the NT to tell friends/extended family, but my u/s was so good that we didn't wait until the "official" results.

I think it depends on where you do the first trimester screening and what lab they work with. If they are fast, it will take about one week.

I went to GW - they said the results would be back within 5 business days (i.e., a full week), but I got a phone call three days later. We weren't told anything at all that day (although I knew from my own research that the nuchal fold measurement they recorded was well within the good range) and the whole thing took less than 10 minutes from start to finish.

I got my results in 6 business days (so, that would be the Friday before the long weekend if yours come back in the same time). The doc told me it would take "a good week," which of course is longer than a week! Good luck!

Greater Washington Maternal-Fetal Medicine offers same day results IF you get your blood drawn prior (at least a week, I think) to your scan appointment.

This is the OP - thanks to everyone! I'll prepare for the wait and hope that we have a nice ultrasound tech who's willing to give us a preview.
