| Live in VA 100% of year, work in MD, do I have to file a nonresident form for MD? using turbo tax and not sure.. |
| Yes file a non resident with employer as well |
| Does your employer withhold va or md tax? If they withhold va tax (as they should, if your paperwork was filled out correctly - MW507) you have no need to file in MD. MD has reciprocity with DC, VA, WV - if you live in those states and work in MD, MD doesn't make your employer withhold MD tax. |
| You only file in VA. MD, DC, and VA have reciprocity meaning you can live in any of the 3 areas and work in any of the 3 and you only pay taxes based on your state of residence. |
Crap- where is this listed? I tried calling MD state and apparently they have so many people calling that they can't even put you you hold. So I forked out $45 for a MD turbotax form that i really don't need? Ack.. As for PP q's- VA taxes were pulled (and listed on W2).. |
It's listen on the nonresident instructions for MD taxes. I have the reverse situation (md resident) and lawyer friends who do not live around here find this situatiin bizarre. I make sure to check every year that i do not owe any va tax. |
Many states have this. For example, indiana residents don't pay IL if they work in Chicago. |
| I live in MD and work full time in VA. My employer withholds MD taxes and I file only in MD. |
