British School of Washington

Ok, I just toured this school, and in my opinion, their curriculum far surpasses anything I've seen so far at open houses. Huge plus, they have rolling enrollment, too. Tuition is comparable, and in alot of cases cheaper than most of the other "highly desired" private schools.

Just curious why I don't hear much about them on this board.

For me, it's a no-brainer, my app is on its way...

Yes, strong academics in the lower school, not so sure of the upper years.
Don't forget however that it's a for-profit organization (no financial aid available), and many of the decisions are dictated by finances. There is also only a very small outdoor play area, and no gym space except what can be borrowed from Jellef next door. There are more boys at the school than girls, so if you have a girl they will face a very limited choice of friends.

Is your child there? The academics seemed pretty strong to me on all levels.

I really like the British School, too. However where is the play area for the younger grades? My 5 y.o. definitely needs to go outside, run and play. Any information on this would be appreciated.

there's a current thread about the British School on the 'schools general' forum.
