"Fun" items to pack for sleep-away camp

Anonymous
DS is going into 3rd grader and will be going to sleep-away camp for the first time this Summer. We were just looking at the packing list today and it mentioned "miscelaneous fun items for evening activities" but offered no specifics. I am assuming cards, games, etc. Any BTDT moms have any ideas of fun things to pack, or maybe ask your kids what items they remember were fun that their bunk mates brought? Other than no electronics, they have no info. Thanks. I k now it's early but DS is excited and I want to keep my eye out for stuff I see

In my DDs bag I send mad libs, jacks, cards, a few small games like Spot It. About 2 weeks into camp I send a bunk box from Oriental trading company-- 8 paddle balls, the ballon the cup game and a few other things from the catalog that look like fun.

My DS went for the first time last summer and just brought 2-3 books to read for rest time. After dinner, they had a special camp activity like color wars, Wild Wild West, campfires, etc. I didn't pack anything else. I would think books, cards, a small game, etc would be enough. They tire them out during the day!

Books, cards, mad libs, maybe a rainbow loom if he's into that.

Let me tell you, google is your friend on this one. I had no ideas until I googled and now I've got a great fun list:

* Glow sticks
* Madlibs
* Playing cards
* Battery-operated fan
* Comic books
* Pens & pencils
* Soduku book
* Boy Scout magazine
* Boy Scout STUFF
* Jigsaw puzzle card
* Notes in code
* Beach ball
* Frisbee
* Slime? Slinky?
* Klutz books
* Silly string

I think I'm more excited than my kid is!!

A lot of those things are also forbidden by camps--our camp doesn't allow silly string or glow sticks, for instance. My daughter came home wishing she had more stuff for when they had silly dress up nights--now that she knows, she wants a funny tutu and mismatched socks and things like that. My son loved games like devil sticks that were both physical and fun.

My daughter loved the disposable camera we got her for camp! She now have memories she can cherish forever!👍

I would move this to the elementary forum, not baby forum.
