non messy way to cook bacon

Anonymous
I need to cook some bacon for a recipe but I hate doing on the stove top because I never know what to do with the excess grease and it's just kinda messy. Are there any alterative ways to cook it? Do I need a special baking tray if I am going to do it in the microwave for example?

It's not messy with a mesh lid.
Then you place the bacon on paper towels to soak off some of the grease.
The grease in the pan goes in the sink, flushed with hot water.
Done.

I bought one like this years ago for the microwave. It works well. I think I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I'm curious if this make the oven dirty with grease splatters? TIA

This is what I do. It's not as yummy as stove top cooking but it is so much easier and less messy.

He above link didn't work for me, but I cook mine in the oven:
Line (edged) baking sheet with foil, lay bacon out flat, cover with more foil, bake at 375 about 10 minutes, flip, bake until crispy enough.

As for the leftover grease: shred about 2 heads of kale, pout the room temp grease over it and massage into the leaves, sprinkle with sea salt, spread on a baking sheet and bake at 375 until crispy. My family eats this like popcorn. We will go through. 2 heads of kale in less than 2 days.

Easiest way if you don't need a lot is to microwave--layer a few paper towels on a plate, then the bacon, then 2 or 3 more paper towels. Start at 3 minutes then check it--depends on how many watts your microwave is.

Never pour bacon grease down the sink drain. You will ruin your pipes. Wait until it cools, and just pour it or scrape it into the trash.

Or large quantities of any fats. I will let the pan cool, then wipe it out with paper towels before washing.

Let the pan cool, then pour most of it in the garbage can using a spatula to scrape it out. Wash as normal. I figure if my pipes can't handle that minute amount of grease so diluted in detergent water, they're going to have problems regardless.
