Need an Endocrinologist who can help with Hypothyroidism

Need someone who can really investigate my continued exhaustion. And is really knowledgeable about this disease. My primary care physician is not doing a great job of listening to me, and the levothyroxine he is prescribing is not doing a whole lot for me.

NP here.

I've been on synthroid for a couple years now and I am still exhausted. I've seen two endos and both of them just shrug and say they don't know why I'm tired. I usually sleep most of the day on my days off/weekend. I've tried a GF diet, taking the pill at night instead of in the am, etc. Still so freaking tired.

I was on synthroid and still felt tired. The doctor switched me to armorthyroid, which made a big difference for me. Armor is natural, made from pig thyroid.

Frederick Internal Medicine and Endocrinology Services

Dr. Majd Hakim?

I am willing to go to her, if she can rid me of what I am going through. I feel as if I am dying. I am operating on just will power, I have nothing left in me.

NP here. My doctor kept shrugging me off too since my numbers were fine on synthroid. I got some energy going GF and when I told him he said "oh yeah, a lot of people say that" yet he never suggested it. Still not 100%, and weightloss is a complete nightmare and believe me I eat right and exercise, etc.

OP keep us posted. Wish I had a good referral for you.

I'm the second PP. Same experience, except that GF didn't make a huge difference. I feel like the less I eat and the more I exercise, the more weight I gain. Ugh.

Michael West but he is in DC.

At first I was on the generic syntroid. He said that sometimes the generic doesnt work for people. He then switched me to synthroid. Though my numbers were fine on synthroid, I still felt tired. So, he switched me to armor. He said something like because it was from a pig, it not only had whatever is in synthroid but also other stuff that is in a porcine's thyroid.

Nothing for the first hour. No calcium, iron, soy, or multivitamin for four hours. I have the list the doctor gave me in my office, but this is what I remember off the top of my head.
