I'm meeting up with a friend in Silver Spring on a weekend morning. Friend is coming via metro, but I could pick up and drive somewhere for a better non-metro-accessible location.
My kids will be with me. Any recommendations for low key places to meet and grab breakfast or brunch? |
| 8407 kitchen bar and jackie's have brunch on sundays only. |
| You could do brunch at Austin Grill or Copper Canyon Grill (sundays only). Both are kid friendly and walkable from the Metro. |
| You could pick her up and drive to Takoma and choose from Mark's Kitchen, Takoma Bistro or Capital City Cheesecake. |
| Thanks!! |

Mrs. K's Tollhouse is a popular brunch spot -- on Colesville RD.
If there is something going on in DTSS then being there for breakfast would be fun. It would depend on the weekend. But there is a farmers Market that starts in the spring and various festivals there. |
| Eggspectation is a great breakfast and very metro convenient, but not low-key. Big noisy chain place. (But great food!) |
| Mark's Kitchen is wonderful. Low-key in the sense of local, humble, casual. But it can get crowded because it's so good. Totally worth waiting a bit if you go at peak time. |
The Farmer's Market runs year-round 9am-1pm. Mrs K's brunch is pricey and not so good, in my experience. Love 8407 for all meals! Eggspectation is family friendly with outdoor seating on nice days. |
| Is 8407 kid friendly? |
We've been several times with our now 5yo twins during the past 2 years. Never on a Saturday night, but for Sunday brunch and dinner a couple of times during the week. They have high chairs and there are usually other families there for brunch. Depending on ages of children, you may want to bring some crayons and paper since 8407 doesn't have them. |

Those are all easy walking distance from Takoma metro, though, so it would make more sense to jsut meet at Takoma. |
