mock stock portfolio

Anonymous
I want to teach my kids about how stocks and bonds work. As part of that, I was thinking of letting them invest an imaginary $10,000 in the market. Looking for some sort of app or Web site where we could input our fake holdings and track their gains and losses over the period of a month. I know I could do it on a spreadsheet, I'm just hopeful there's something more user-friendly and kid-friendly out there. Any suggestions?

Dumbest answer ever on DCUM, Einstein. I am asking people here if they have any actual experience or recommendations.

Don't be such an ass. You might have better days.

Good one, thanks. Local business, too!

we use yahoo finance. They can pick the stocks, see the changes in many different ways and read company reports and insider trades.

Of course they always ask when they get the real $$$

I track my portfolio using Google finance. Pretty easy to use, should be more than enough info for kids to learn.

+1 on Google Finance.

How old are your kids? Maybe you can just open up a real brokerage account with $500 and make some collective decisions with them on investments.
