Thinking about taking DS for a visit. It would probably be a safety for him, but he could go with merit money. I have seen the school mentioned here for its beauty (which will probably sell DS, who already loves SC). Can anyone with recent experience speak to the academics, social life, and/or grad school placement? DS is coming from a Catholic school, and is not particularly conservative--would he fit in? Anyone know what kind of stats are required for significant merit aid? TIA!
My sibling went there. It has solid academics. He had no problem getting into grad school. The campus is beautiful and Greenville has a cute downtown.
My much younger sister went there pretty recently. She loved it: she liked her classes, got to know her professors, did a lot of activities on campus. My parents and I thought it was a good fit for her (a strong student and well-rounded). I can also say that her college friends were all very nice kids.
My friend went to Furman and he met his wife there. They both went on to medical school and now are both doctors. They are happy and loved there time at Furman.
