Hopkins House Alexandria parents

Anonymous
I was interested in any feedback from current parents of Hopkins House children in Alexandria. I'm a little confused about their website. Are there two centers and a third opening? Two friends recommended this center for my child, but their kids are older. I searched the forum and only found old postings and some negative reviews online about a police issue and issues with the administration. I can't imagine my friends sending their children to such a center and would like feedback from the general public in addition to my friends. What is the center like? How are the infant and toddler classrooms? What has been your experience with the administration and faculty? What is the ratio of children to staff in the infant and toddler rooms and older classrooms? Any feedback is appreciated, especially about the waitlist for infants. Thanks!

Can you be more specific?

Which location are you asking about? There is one in Old Town and there is one on Route 1 closer to Ft. Belvoir. There are plans for a third location in the Herndon area, I believe.

11:!3 here again...
I do not know about the Old Town location but I have used the location on Route 1 (James McNeil Preschool Academy). I recently had a child in the infant room at the location on Route 1 and thought the care she received was top-notch. The only reason we don't still use the center is because a spot opened in the infant room at the day care center her older sibling is enrolled in and that center is more convenient to work. It was hard saying goodbye to the teachers.

I think the infant room team does a wonderful job taking care of the little ones. The ratio is either 3-1 or 4-1 in the infant room. I can't speak to the other ages as I haven't used the center outside of infant care, but I do have friends who know people who use the preschool and pre-K classrooms and are really happy.

I didn't have a need to interact with management that often, but whenever I had a question the director responded to my calls or emails very quickly.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the infant care at this location to my friends.

I am interested in 15:30's response as to what issues they had (and at which location) that caused them to pull their child within the first week.
