Muhlenberg College

I grew up close to campus, so no firsthand experience but lots of casual exposure. It has a great theatre program which puts on truly excellent performances. The relative proximity to NYC helps for recruiting faculty and Actors Equity actors. The campus itself is pretty and small. There's not much commerce in walking distance. There's a bus from Allentown to NYC and it's about an hour and a half. It's about an hour from Philadelphia. Allentown itself doesn't have a lot to offer but in the area where Muhlenberg is, you are pretty insulated from the city itself and its problems and there is parkland adjacent.

It seems like a nice, intimate little school where a student would get a lot of attention. I know mostly private school grads who went there. It seems comparable to me to Gettysburg, Franklin and Marshall, Bucknell, Susquehanna, etc. although maybe with more of a theater/dance leaning.

I also grew up near Muhlenberg. I agree that it seems like a nice, intimate little school. I think the trip to NYC might be more like 2 or even 3 hours depending on traffic, but still very doable. In my day it was considered a nice but not great school, but I think its reputation has come up a great deal in recent years.
