ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Seriously consider joining a younger ECNL team that is #1 in the league so far and hope for a national champion run. He quit his old ECNL team before they won the national championship.

There's 4 "trapped" players on my daughters 2010 team and nobody is excited about playing down with the 2011s.

Not sure how the people are that are rejoicing in the street but it's not my experience with trapped player parents.

October parent here, ready to peace out. In my daughter's case, I don't think the older girls truly know how she feels. When they started at U8, she was of course smaller, a year behind from rec, put on B team. Worked hard, moved to A team. Eventually grew enough to catch up in size to the older ones too. But even though she says the older girls are all nice to her, she says they aren't nice to the B team girls, who are still her friends. She has been holding a grudge over it for years. She also thinks the older girls are lazy and just there because they were huge and fast back in third grade.

Wow that's a lot for kid to consider. Sounds more like a parent with a chip on their shoulder.

Most Top teams play against the year up and down in inner club scrimmages.

I'm surprised there's so much anomicity.
Seems you are seriously seeing things that didn't exist from PP.

If your son is serious about soccer and wants to play long term, go where there is a good coach and environment for him to develop as a player. Don't chase the trophies. The world is full of kids who won U14 tournaments and never lived up to their potential. If you want the trophy, you do you.

Said by a parent who does not have a trapped player…you have no idea what those parents are saying behind closed doors. Our teams four trapped players are all talking amongst ourselves but we are def not sharing our plans with the rest of the team and we are pretending to be sad so as to not offend.

Don’t get me wrong- we love the team. But at the end of the day the kid wants to play in college and being a trapped player on a team with kids outside your recruiting year is shit.

Peace out- cant wait for SY teams…

Agreed. I'm not sitting around with my current kids team telling everyone we're excited for her to move down an age group but like, yeah, we're excited for that opportunity! Struggling on the bubble of the top team against kids basically a year older has been good for her, but like, being a really impactful player at the top of the age group an age down will be fun in a different way!

Top players aren't excited to play down.

Bench warmers and their parents are excited to play against younger players.

I do not give a f**k about top team. Find a suitable team that he can start, but not the best. As a Dec. kid, if he can start on his current MLSN team, then we will stay to play in BY. If not, find a suitable ECNL team to play SY. I understand Q1/Q2 parents do not want Q3/Q4 to play down to take their kids' positions. But it will be my call this time.

No your kid will likely struggle on the bubble but a year down.

Age makes a difference but top players will filter to the top no matter what. Also mid level players will be mid level players no matter what.

Peace out CY. Bring on SY. Not GR, SY.

Your assumption will be proved wrong very quickly.

No it won't.

The same parents that think playing down and doing SY so recruiters can see their kid easier will move onto something else when they continue to suck as soccer.

My biggest problem with GY vs BY is it brings into favor the laxbro approach where parent red shirt their August-March boys in k, 2nd, 4th, 6th or 9th to in sh^&y parenting and focus on academics let their kids be almost 20 graduating from high school. My sons private school teammates are almost 18 months older than him but in the same grade. For what end other than BS private school clout chasing?

Join MLSN and do biobanding. You can play down and be 18 months older.

It’s actually 23 month difference.
Jan 2011 to Dec 2012 is 23 months.
