Metropolitan DC Local Politics
please refer to the DDOT studies that are publicly available and widely shared. Oh, you would rather just raise disengenuous arguments one after another in the absence of facts? that’s what I thought. |
Fewer people are commuting from the suburbs by car during weekday rush hours these days, therefore it's very important for DC to continue to prioritize people commuting from the suburbs by car during weekday rush hours! |
wrong on so many levels. fewer cars on a wide road *increase* the need for a road diet. |
Perhaps, a car hitting a child crossing the street is worse than a bike hitting that child. Just saying. Note that suburban liberals try to close off their communities to thru traffic with one way streets, speed bumps, etc. But urban liberals want more traffic on side streets. |
Its fun to make fun of the spandex crowd. Middle aged white guy here. |
Otherwise, those commuters stay home, which is not good for DC. |
Definitely! Which is an argument for fewer cars and more bikes. |
Why are you all always so unwilling to answer the simple questions? |
But they're already staying home. Fewer people, driving less often, and not all at the same time. That is an argument FOR changing this allocation of public space, not AGAINST. |
PP answered the question: https://ddot.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/d...aff-Parking_FINAL_04012021.pdf |
Good thing that Vision Zero and the DDOT plan don't want that to happen. PS - Option C actually decreases traffic on what you likely consider "side streets". |
that's right, we have to create speedways and parking lots all over DC. otherwise the city will collapse. |
Brah. The link has been posted ONE ZILLION TIMES. Not doing your work for you. |
| If they do bike lanes, they should be in the center of the roads so elderly and mobility impaired people and families with small children and delivery and ride shares can access the curbs to access businesses. |
that would mean people can’t do their stupid, selfish u-turns, though. |
