Poconos in summer?

Hi folks,
Our family and a couple others w/young kids (ages from 0-7) are looking to escape to the Poconos for a week this summer. Problem is, we know nothing about the area and are not sure where to stay. We'd like to be close to activities/nature the little ones can enjoy, also being close to hikes/rafting would be a plus for my sister and brother who will be joining us (but obviously less of a big deal for them to hop in a car and drive a bit to an attractive destination).

Any suggestions about towns/activities/lodging/whatever is most welcome... we're just now starting to investigate options.

look at Skytop - beautiful resort, good kid programs, all-inclusive, very good food
