I'm looking for good first-ish foods for a 7 month old (and, I supposed, later) that I can get from Amazon relatively cheaply.
- in general - for traveling (we're going on a week-long trip) Thanks! |

Good in terms of...what? Looking at the ingredients, I'd go with:
Peter Rabbit Organics Plum organics I like the pouches more than the jars typically, but it's up to you. |

Good nutritionally in terms of suitability for a baby.
Thanks... the pouches are so expensive, it seems... are they easy enough to feed to a young baby? It seems like a toddler could suck them out, but I don't know if we'd then need to transfer into a container and use a spoon? |
| For trips we did a combo of prepared, jarred food, but also avocados, bananas, and other things you can just buy or take and mash up. |
| The pouches are great for travel. You don't need to transfer the food into anything. You just squeeze it right into the spoon. |
| Home made |

I like Earth's Best. Stuff tastes like what it's supposed to.

| We just bought the spoon that screws directly onto pouch. We use that when we're out and it works great. |
| Baby SLOP!! Local, organic, home made, and sustainable!!!! |

In general - have you considered making it? It's actually really easy, and you can freeze baby-sized portions in an ice cube tray. We loved steamed/mashed sweet potatoes for a first food - you can thin with a bit of breastmilk, formula or water if needed.
Travel - carry ripe bananas and avocados. Mash with a fork, or use a spoon to scoop bites right from the fruit. Sorry I'm not much help on the brands for store-bought. We did use containers when traveling, but it was quite a few years ago and many of the brands have changed. |
