The University of Richmond

We recently toured UR for and with DC who is a junior. The school property was quite nice. However, must admit we left feeling somewhat "empty"? Hard to explain the feeling but DC just couldn't say ..."YES, I want to go here..."!!! Did we miss somthing on our tour/visit?

FYI, DC is within range of the school so its by no means a "reach" school.

Funny, we had the same impression. We were blown away by the beauty and serenity of the campus, and the interdisciplinary leadership studies program sounds perfect for my son. But we were there on a Friday afternoon in the fall while school was in session and didn't see many kids at all. I wondered if a lot of people leave for the weekend. We just didn't get a good feel for what kind of kids go there, unlike at the VA publics we visited. I also was impressed with what I had read about the president, but I heard he is leaving. My son will probably apply but it feels like a bit of a question mark.

My DD and I really loved the school when we visited. It's a beautiful campus and had a nice feel. We had a really nice and interesting tour guide which always helps. MY DD applied and is waiting to hear from them within the next few weeks. However, as time has gone on my DD is not quite as convinced that it is the right school for her. She can't really explain why other than a feeling that it might not be great to be there for 4 years…we'll see what happens...
