We've had ours for 7 years and I still love it!
Love that I've been able to buy fittings, shelving, accessories for the insides by just going to the store. The drawers are nice and smooth when opening and closing. How have you liked your IKEA kitchen? |
| We finished ours q year ago and I absolutely love it. It's really beautiful, the drawers are super smooth, and it's just very functional. Also, we bought the cabinets during a 20% off sale and they only cost about $4,000, for a good-sized kitchen. |

| 6 years, still love it. We did cabinets all the way to the ceiling. Best decision ever. |
| The previous owners did an Ikea kitchen and it is what "sold" the house to us (we did not find out later that it was Ikea: it was just a really nice looking kitchen). After a couple years we added more cabinets and countertop, and put pull-out drawers in all the lower cabinets. It still looks fantastic. There are a couple doors near the dishwasher that are mildly damaged from steam, and I love that I can just buy replacement doors. |
| Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'm curious who did the installation on your IKEA kitchen. Did they recommend a contractor or did you go there already working with someone? |
| My major issue with them is that they use the same particle board crap as their furniture |
|
i had a custom vanity built - and the door warped less than a year later.
I am definitely considering IKEA! |
Yes, and the drawers slip and are wobbly pretty instantly. I'm surprised by all the positive posts about them here. I like their designs but they are crap. |
WHat is your experience with this? Do you actually have a bad ikea kitchen or is this just what you heard? Who installed your Ikea kitchen? My neighbors have an Ikea kitchen and I have often helped cook over there and I love it. They are very satisfied with the quality and how it has held up (over the past 10 years). |
| Are their doors real wood? |
Same here! I was mildly disappointed when I realized this, as the cabinets weren't real wood, etc. But, honestly, they STILL look better than the "real wood" cabinets my previous apartments all had, and they are easy to clean. Bonus for the fact that we could add in a whole new cabinet area and it all matched perfectly. |

| We do in our investment property in Georgetown--but we used countertops from a different place. |
We put it in 2007. Still looks like new after 3 different tenants. |
