Going to Paris in May and want to look tres chic! But of course also will be doing lots and lots of walking. No running shoes or fanny pack are a given (ha!) but would love idea on outfits and stylish shoes that I can walk in, etc. Don't want to feel like an American in Paris!

Will be there on business week after next and can report back Last time I was there I was surprised by the number of women wearing sneaker type shoes. Scarves around the neck have always been very big among French women and I haven't seen any let up in that over the years.
I was PP who suggested AGL flats from Nordstrom. This is definitely what I am wearing in Paris when not at business meetings. Very pricey but worth it for the comfort--I can walk all day in them. |

I just got back from Paris this past week.
People were wearing a lot of boots and tights and slim dark jeans and yes, lots of scarves. I did notice a lot of trainers, not white reeboks, but European sports shoes, like Campers, Puma's, superga, during the day. You might want to wait and just buy a pair of shoes there. My luggage was lost for several days and I was really glad to be able to do a little shopping. |
| We were in Paris last April. Wore dark denim and sweaters. ( No bright colors). Wore a black peacoat with scarves. I wore boots, but my feet killed with all walking. Switched loafers. Feet still killed, would have loved to find a more comfortable shoe suitable to walking. |
| OP here -- thanks for the answers (didn't realize there was a similar Paris question on the boards til after I posted this!) Anyone been there when it's warmer? It'll be past boots season when we're there (very end of May). Thanks for the AGL flats recommendation but out of my price range. Any other clothes, shoe suggestions? Thx |
| Tons of converse all stars when we were there last summer! |
| to the AGL flats poster -- several styles, which one did you get? |

AGL PP here. I own several pairs as I have hard to fit feet. My work house pair is like the one below, but mine does not have quilting, which seems to up the price by $25. It is the color combo that makes this pair so versatile. You can wear them with black, but they mix nicely with lighter colors as well. They are expensive, but they also are not one season shoes. I've had my pair like this for four years and they are still going strong.

| Well, if you really want to blend in in May, don't wear anything summery. It will still be fairly chilly there still and the French bundle up even into early summer. Only Americans and Scandinavians wear shorts and bare arms at the first sign of warm weather. |
A similar style to the AGLs is French Sole. I have several pairs and they are super comfortable for walking. |

Take a couple of nice fitted jackets, weather appropriate. Any shirt underneath. Nice jeans. VERY comfortable shoes. Scarves (take some light weight ones), which are great for when you're still sitting outside eating at 10pm and it's getting cool. Sunglasses.
And did I say VERY comfortable shoes? I know I did, but Paris is a walking town. Skip the heels - nice but supportive flats or boots. |
| Those AGL shoes are gorgeous. However, I am confused by the sizing. I wear a US size 7. Usually conversion charts list that as a european 38. However, that link to Nordstrom's lists it as a eurpean 37. now I don't know what to order... |
I wear 7.5 in US and take a 38 in AGL. 37 sounds right for a size 7. |
Could you suggest where I can find light scarves? I seem to only find big scarves. Thanks. |
| Flared midi skirts are also a good idea |
