How much do you give to service each time you go?

Title says it all.

(And are you an official member - i.e, have you paid to join the church -- and does this factor into how much you give? I'm not OP but also curious about this. Thanks. Sorry OP.)

OP here. No problem! I'm curious too. I don't attend church but I do visit a friends church from time to time and was shocked by how much this person gives.

Evelyn Waugh had an ingenious idea for how much to give at a service; he put into the basket an amount equal to the price of a movie ticket.

Catholic Church in montgomery county. We go to Mass 4x a month and give $25 per. We do not give to the Cardinal's Appeal because I am truly disgusted by the tactics of including that appeal into the Mass. Our children do not attend the parish school as they are in single gender private schools. We did not "pay" to join; but did register. We always feel welcome at Mass.

Catholic, and I'll pony up money again when the who sex abuse scandal is apologized for and taken care of correctly, no more shuffling priests around, and full disclosure and apologies from all who were responsible for protecting monsters.

Oh and agree with PP... No way do I even go to mass the weekend of the bishop's appeal, let alone give to it.

$20 weekly for standard offering. There is sometimes a second collection, which depending on what it is we choose to donate or not.

We are registered parishioners; no "fee" to join.

Oldest son will start K at the parish school in the fall.

Protestant. Attend church every week but do not put money in the plate every week. We give on a schedule we have determined based on when we get paid . We give a set percentage of our income to various accounts at church. There is no required fee of any kind but we give, total, about 12-15 percent of gross income.

Nothing in the plate, do an auto deduction once a month of $400. Wish we could do $20-25/wk but DH insists on more.

Nothing. We're jewish and I've never seen a temple go around collecting during services.
