The Springs Montessori in Springfield, VA

We are looking at sending our 2 year old and possibly 4 year old to the Springs. Are there any current parents that could let us know how their experiences have been? One question I have is how the daily schedule works. Is there an after-care program? How are these teachers? I have met some of the lead teachers, who were very impressive.
Also, if you could comment on whether moving a 4 year old there would be worthwhile considering he may go to public kindergarten the following year. I also know they are moving to a new location. This is more convenient for us so this is a big draw. Thanks for any feedback you can provide. |

| I'm not a parent of the Springs yet so I'm not sure if what I say hold any weight however their sample schedule is on the website. I did get to talk to a few parents of the Springs and I was told that most of the students who are becoming kindergardeners the following year will not be applying because of the move. It's easier for the parents to put their kids in kindergarten the following year instead of having them move with the Springs adjust and move again and adjust in first grade. Big kids are important in the Montessori learning environment, so the younger kids can learn. I've also heard that having bathrooms in the classes are important (part of the new build) for the teachers so their time and assistance's time won't be divided. Not sure if this helps! |

I don't know if I'd bother sending a 4 year old to montessori if you don't plan to keep him there through the K program or if he has no prior experience with montessori. It would just be one year adjusting to montessori, then one year adjusting to traditional school.
The 2 year old - yeah, go ahead and start that child. I'm sure their new spaces will be amazing! |

it says on teh website 7719 Fullerton Road, Springfield, VA 22153. I'm so excited about this move. Instead of driving 20 minutes it'll be a minute from my house. |
