Tired of switching between bags for work/commuting, bag for weekend, seasonal colors/materials and just want something that will hold all of my stuff (and a handful of snacks, cloth diapers, small wet bag, water bottles, snacks for a busybody toddler) and not make me look like a college student. My office is business dress, but not particularly stylish (older employees mostly). My style is mostly traditional, not trendy. I have no shoulders so bonus points if it will stay on my shoulder (which is why I am considering a backpack) and relatively lightweight. Totes with shoulder straps are always falling off. I'm 33.
I considered something like this, but the outside pockets are small and DH flipped at a $300 backpack. http://m.ebags.com/product/tumi/voyageur-calais-backpack/243518?productid=10214801 Or tell me what I want doesn't exist. TIA! |

I have to say, all my Tumi gear looks brand new after at least 5 years of dragging it everywhere all over the world. Check out the Tumi outlet in Leesburg, they often have awesome deals!

| I think a cross body messenger bag might work, and there are many cuter options than for backpacks. |
| Backpacks are "in" this season so I bet you'll find some good options. |
| I bought Marc by Marc Jacobs. It is 250 but I got 25% at shopbop |
I find a backpack to be much more comfortable with the weight evenly distributed. |
I'm actually pretty short-waisted anyway, and messenger bags are not flattering on me. I'm either kicking them with each step, or they're up under my armpits. -OP I found a cute backpack/handbag at Marshall's that's big enough to hold a number of things, but hopefully still be decent looking. I'm so not into trends and wouldn't have even known these were popular. |
| I like the Everlane one. You could also check out the Longchamp pliage backpacks. I have an old Coach backpack purse that is indestructible, so it's worth spending the money for a good one if you think you might keep it for years and years. |

I've gotten a lot of compliments on this one: http://www.ebags.com/product/knomo/montague-15-laptop-backpack/264579?productid=10274173 |
I agree, Tumi is excellent. OP -- This isn't going to help because these bags are not inexpensive, but I love MZ Wallace -- well made, very durable and so functional. http://mzwallace.com/shop/products/2950089-0000/marlena-black-bedford |
| Just get the tumi one. You'll have it for years. |
I was going to suggest this MZ Wallace backpack as well. I have several of their bags, the material holds up very well. |
I saw this one...very cute. Thanks for all the recs! |
