Filter if you are more into the artisanal beans ground and poured by a barista with at least one of the following on his/her clothing: mustache, bicycle, strongman.
Tabard Inn is fabulous if you want to hang out in a cozy living room with a fire, but tends more to the cocktail than coffee crowd.
I second Tabard Inn. With the cold weather, it would be very cozy there. It looks more like a living room with a fire place and there are a few other rooms to chose from. Not a "cool" coffee shop per say but a unique place to sit for a few hours and I'm sure they have coffee on hand (or cocktails if you prefer).
