Anyone heard from Madeira?

I see one response on the survey that someone plans to turn down their 9th grade spot at Madeira.

When did you hear, and how (mail, email, phone)?
Thanks!

I never really hear much talk about Madeira on here. I plan to look into this school in another couple of years.

best of luck!

Thanks! I'm just a little nervous that we haven't heard yet because it sounds like at least one person already heard. And our mail did not come today, which is not helping!

To All Applicants to The Madeira School:

As you will note on our Admission calendar, Madeira follows the notification schedule of many of our boarding school colleagues. That means that although you may hear about your admission decision from many of the Washington area independent day schools today (or even last week in some cases) you will not hear from Madeira until this Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m.

On behalf of the Madeira admission staff, I look forward to being in touch with you at the end of the week.

Ann Richardson Miller
Director of Admission

We are waiting too! What grade are you applying for?

When I was admitted, albeit almost 20 years ago in 1996, they called. They asked to speak to the girl and not the parent. It was kind of neat and empowering. I would imagine their culture is still the same?

9:49, applying for 9th grade.

9:50, that is very cool! I'd love it if they called and asked to speak to my DD (with good news, of course!). But it sounds like they will email us at 5pm on Friday - admissions staff probably not making phone calls at that time, I'd guess.

Three more days . . . At least we know when the notification is coming.

My DD graduated a few years ago. She was notified via email and then the packet came a day or two later (very personalized, included a handwritten note from a student, etc.).

Definitely go to the visit day - they do a really nice job of it and my DD came away really excited about the school (she was a little unsure about the all girls thing until that day).

Please post when you get the email today. Having a hard time waiting until 5pm!

Good luck to all - my D graduated from Madeira last year and it was an incredible experience. Great community with very little girl drama, inclusive sports and incredible opportunities. Freshman year at college is proving to be an easy transition because of her Madeira experience.
