How can I do the lottery when I'm unemployed??

Need to submit but have no idea where in the city I might be working next year. Should I base it solely on proximity to my house?

Are you sure you will be moving?

I would base it on what you know now. No other way.

I doubt I will move. It would be based on current residence

Yes. With a new job you do not want to have to have an inconvenient commute to school--where you will have to leave early or arrive late to make it work. Good luck!

Guess you have to find a job close by or with a great commute for the school you choose.

if you're matched you have to be able to prove residency by May 1.

I don't see how this is relevant. The OP already lives in DC. She doesn't think she'll be moving. So she'll be able to prove residency and in boundary status based on her address now, which will also be her address then. She just doesn't know whether to focus based on proximity to home or other criteria.

OP, I live in Columbia Heights and primarily applied to schools that are a reasonable distance from my house in one direction or the other. I did not apply anywhere that would add more than 30 minutes of transit time to my commute. I don't know if I plan to stay in the apartment I'm in long term, but didn't apply to (for example) WOTP schools on the possibility that I might live or work over there next year.

OP said they are not likely to move.
