Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers

I am not big on returning items but my toddler received two of one very large toy. I would keep it to use as a gift but it is large and expensive. I know I cannot bring it to Toys R Us or Target per their online return policies.
Where can I take it? Does anyone know of a store that takes toys back with no receipt. I hate doing this, it makes me feel bad but I really just do not need two of these items. |
| How can you return a toy to a store where it wasn't bought? |
|
Target will take it without a receipt if you give your driver's license. Or you could re-sell it on Craig's List.
|
People do it all the time which is why returns implement store policies. I do not know where it was bought so how can I determine the correct store to return it to? As I stated in the original post I do not return things but do not need this particular toy. |
| Why not donate it? That's what we do when our son gets a toy he doesn't need (or we don't want in the house). |
| I've returned things at Buy Buy Baby without a receipt, and I'm fairly certain they didn't even carry the toy in the store. They have a very generous return policy. If you do return without a receipt they will give you in-store credit, but it's better than having two of the same toy! |
| walmart will probably give you a aatore credit as well without a receipt |
Thanks, I am going to try this. They do sell them item and I do spend enough money there that i wouldn't feel too bad. Just hate taking things back. |
| i would call first. alot of stores that used to do this (including borders, ikea) recently tightened their return policies. |
Ikea? Where else would you buy their products? It is understandable that sometimes people do not want gifts they get. With no gift receipt what do you do with the stuff? |
| Just read an article, probably in the Post, that a lot of stores are relaxing their return policies (in practice at least, if not always explicitly stated) right now, just to get people in the stores in hopes they will buy something. Most chain stores leave a lot of discretion to the individual store/manager, so don't just go by their stated policies. Personally, I find that stores in more affluent areas have more generous policies. |
| I can't believe that so many people are advocating this. No wonder the rest of us get screwed when we actually misplace a receipt. |
IT WAS A GIFT. I am not a serial returner. How can stores not expect items w/out receipts to be returned after Christmas. It is not criminal and it is to be expected RIGHT after the holidays. No one is advocating a crime on society. Goodness. |
So you have never returned a shower, wedding or birthday gift that you had no receipt for? |
Yes, I have returned something for which I had no receipt. But I returned it to the store from where it was purchased. That's the difference. If I receive a gift that I can't use and I don't have a gift receipt, then I give it to someone else, donate it or ask the person who gave it to me where he/she bought it (only if it's a family member do I do this). |
