steel wool ok on them?

its al all-clad and has black marks

I use the green side of Scotchbrite pads. Steel wool may scratch them. If you have burnt-on food, try making a paste of baking soda+water, and leave it on overnight then scrub.

Don't do steel wool it will scratch them. If the baking soda does not work get bar keepers friendh. Its amazing in stainless steel and actually what all clad recommends using.

Another vote for Bar Keepers Friend. I use it with a damp paper towel on my All Clad and it gets off the toughest marks and stuck foods.

Yes, definitely try Bar Keepers Friend!

Put some washing powder and water into the pot and soak. It works to lift off burnt off grime.

Yup. Barkeepers friend. Great stuff. Let it soak overnight and then scrub.

Wait, what? I use steel wool on my stainless steel pots and pans all the time. What do you mean they can scratch? I havent seen any scratches. Plus I thought you werent supposed to scratch those non stick pans with dark coating. The same rule applies for stainless steel?

Same here. No scratches and easy clean up. It is pretty fine steel wool, though. I use a brush to hold the wool and works like a charm.

You're only to supposed to scrub the pot (or pan) for a minute MAX with Bar Keepers Friend. The main ingredient, oxalic acid, is a really strong acid (much stronger than acetic acid). I can't imagine what you're doing to a pan where you have to let it sit overnight and soak with BKF. We used oxalic acid in the chemistry prep room to wash glassware and that stuff gets everything off super quick. Always make sure you wear gloves because it is harsh on skin.
If a pan you just cooked in has stuff stuck/burned on the inside, squirt some dish soap in the pan, add hot water, and let it sit on the hot burner. The stuff will come off without a problem.

For difficult stains, apply Bar Keepers Friend liquid or make a paste with Bar Keepers Friend powder and let it remain on the surface but for no longer than one minute. Rub gently as needed, rinse thoroughly.
